It is no secret that home staging can be a powerful tool when selling your home. By now, you’ve probably seen at least one Flip or Flop episode where Tarek and Christina call in the professionals to bring in furniture and decorate the home for potential buyers. It seems like a lot of effort… and a lot of money. But it’s worth it. Homes that have been staged generally sell in half the time of those homes that have not been staged. And here’s some great news for sellers – you don’t have to bring in new furniture to stage a home. Check out this list of simple tricks to stage your home and get it show-ready!
Upgrade your welcome mat. It’s the first thing a buyer is going to see – make a good impression with a cute, clean welcome mat.
Pack up all of those old family photos. You’re going to have to pack them when you move anyway, so get ahead of it! The bottom line is, you want buyers to see your house as their potential home. Replace family photos with some cool artwork to update your walls and create a neutral environment that buyers can see as their own.
Declutter, Declutter, Declutter! Minimize clutter on your countertops, bookshelves, and tables. Less is more!
Go for clean neutral linens. You know those nice “guest towels” you got for your wedding? The ones that are too nice to actually use? Put them out in your bathroom.
Add some decorative touches here and there. Arrange cool books and vases on your tables. Display fresh (or good silk) flowers in various rooms. Homegoods has hundreds of decorative baskets, figurines, plants, etc. Spend fifty dollars and stock up on some items to place around your home. It will pay off!
